Process Manager Reporting Using External Data

Dec 27, 2010 01:45 PM

If you've done Process Manager reporting in the past, you're probably aware of how to build and customize reports using Process Manager (Workflow) data.  But did you know you can use the exact same GUI report-writer to create reports against your own custom data source and database queries?  This allows you to have custom SQL reports show up alongside your normal Process Manager reports, and gives you an easy-to-use custom report builder to report against a database--even if the database has nothing to do with Workflow.  The reports you build can also be emailed out on a schedule or exposed programmatically (via web service)...the latter of which is demonstrated in this video as well.

As a side note: if you've never used the "Toggle Breakpoint" feature in the Workflow debugger to drill into real-time process data, this video shows how to use this very powerful feature as well.
