  • 1.  Windows stops responding at saving your settings

    Hi

I do have Windows XP Clients with SP3 and all other Updates installed. On one Client i do have the Problem, that the Computer stops responding on Logoff, while it displays "Saving your settings".

I did a lot of troubleshooting, and i found that Symantec Antivirus is responsible for this problem.

We had version 9 or 10 installed on this computer, i uninstalled it and the problem was gone. So i decided to install the latest SEP 11.0.5, but the Problem appeared again...

I did alot of research here at Symantec, but coudnt find a solution.

    Any suggestions?

    Thanks a lot

you need to disable the network check on the client machine

in Client Realtime Configuration" settings, if you have "Network" selected (Along with Floppy and CDROM) in this type of environment, could cause this error. The event is generated when the user is trying to unload something to their roaming profile and at the same time SAV was scanning these files/pipes. Turning off the Network check box in "Client Realtime protection" from the "Symantec System Console"

So if we get you right you have the latest version of SEP RU5 installed on your machine. In case you have installed all the features of endpoint i.e. AV/AS, PTP, NTP   then try uninstalling the PTP and the NTP feature and then check for the performance.

How to add or remove features to existing Symantec Endpoint Protection client installations

Incase this does not resolve the issue and

If you have the expertise on OS then you can go to MSCONFIG keep only the Microsoft and Symantec services running and then check for the system performance.
