    Hi,

I want to use the Ghost software on my Office machine for making bootdisks, running Ghost Cast sessions Etc, but everytime i try an open the Boot Disk program it just thinks about it then stops. I'm running Windows 7 Professional 64 Bit on the Machine in question, it did say something about not being compatible with Windows 7 when i was installing it but let me carry on but i've got it on my servers which run Windows Server 2008 R2 which are fine.

Is there a patch or something so i can run on my Office PC???................. I did try the changing the compatible mode to something else but that made no difference.

    Thanks
    James

Right i've done a Live update and my ghost console is on version 11.5.1.2266 now but i don't know if its the most up to date, i've read a there is a new version of the Live update, i've got Version 3.2.0.68 and the latest version for live update is 3.5.0.64 does that matter??

The Ghost Console now opens on my Windows 7 Professional PC without crashing now but i still can't open up the Ghost Boot Wizard and Ghost Explorer, there in the Processes if i ALT+CTRL+DEL and check in task manager but nothing is coming up. It just thinks about loading it up and nothing, any suggestions????

    Thanks

    Hello ltjimster,
Did you check Windows 7 Software and Hardware Compatibility?

Check out the Windows 7 Compatibility site: (There you will find out about hardware and software compatibilty.)
    http://www.microsoft.com/windows/compatibility/en-us/default.aspx
There is a pulldown from which you can choose "hardware" and "software".

There are also some great articles, instructional videos and such to help with your Windows 7 at our Springboard site:
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/default.aspx

    Thanks again,

     Hi there,

The version three referenced above was the version of liveUpdate, not Ghost Solution Suite. As of yet, a Ghost Solution Suite 3 has not been announced. Ghost Solution Suite 2.5.1 (Ghost 11.5.1.2266) is compatible with Windows 7 32bit and 64bit.

    Thank you,

    Randy

So what do i do then, i've tried unistalling it then reinstalling and it always says its installing on an unsupported operating system and when i try to open ghost explorer or boot disk wizard it doesn't do anything............ Could you send me a link to the latest live update as well please, see if that helps at all??

    Thanks

I think i've sorted.........i downloaded the symantec Live update Version 3.5.0.64 but it wouldn't let me run the setup because of unsupported operating system problems again. So i changed the compatiability to Vista With Service Pack 2, then ran the setup and and checked for updates for it was upto date and the Boot Disk Wizard and Ghost Explorer opened :).

But i tried doing that compatilbilty program on the setup file for the GSS software but it still complained about unsupported operating system and let me carry on.

    Thanks

No i haven't.......................... It's stopped opening up boot disk wizard or ghost explorer again, it did work.

I uninstalled the software altogether and reinstalled it but starting off with changing the compatibility mode on the Setup.exe file to Vista then tried installing, again unsupported operating system issue comes up but i can carry on and it doesn't make a difference.

Is there any fixes for this problem or is it just me :)

    Thanks
    James

    Hi James,

11.5.1.2266 has a bug where it won't launch Boot Wizard on Windows 7 or Server 2008 R2 unless there is a disc in every one of your optical media drives. Try rebooting, popping in a CD, and seeing if that works.

    Hello,

As Dan mentioned, yes there is defect in GSS 2.5.1 build 2266 and work around is to insert blank cd into CD drive. We encountered this problem with latest AHCI controller drivers by Intel and released the patch for this problem. You may need to contact Symantec Technical Support to get this patch.
