  • 1.  Windows 7 64 bit Action Center doesn't think SEP client is running/available

    Posted May 06, 2011 07:22 PM

    SEP Enterprise Edition Version 12.1.601.4699

Client pushed from management server and all appeared to install OK.  Client PC required a reboot after the install and again, all seemed to be OK.

Now, Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit Action Center indicates that SEPC is unavailable and/or not running (see attached).

Trying to "start" SEP via the Action Center states "this program will not run" (also attached).  SEP Client shows all green and that all is well (again, see attached)

    Thank you.

    Open the protection center console

    click on policies

withdraw the firewall policy from all the groups.

    https://www-secure.symantec.com/connect/forums/windows-firewall-and-sep-both-report-theyre-turned

Advanced Settings for Windows 7 Firewall indicate that it is on, even when Symantec Endpoint Protection (SEP) 11.0 Network Threat Protection (NTP) is installed.

It wasn’t the Windows Firewall - - I have Windows Firewall disabled in Windows services. It was a problem with the Action center not thinking SEP client was installed. I corrected this part by reinstalling the client form an extracted managed client and now the action center is happy but now SEPC says it has a “multiple problems” (see attached):

    1) Download Insight is malfunctioning

    2) Network Intrusion is malfunctioning

    3) Browser Intrusion is malfunctioning

    Thank you.

    Hi Dave,

    Have you tried running LiveUpdate?

That should normally clear up any errors like that after an install...

Live Update did not fix it but a uninstall, clear all files in the TEMP & TMP folders,, remove all folders containing SEPC, and reinstall did.

    All is well now.
