Where to download 64bit SEP 12.1 trial?

  • 1.  Where to download 64bit SEP 12.1 trial?

    Posted Oct 17, 2012 01:17 PM

I'm trying to download a SEP 12.1 unmanaged client trial for our server which is 64 bit.

I registered and found a download, which wouldn't install because it said it was incompatible with the computer architecture. I know if you try and install 64 bit software on a 32 bit machine, but I thought it was usually ok the other way around.

Anyway, can anyone point me to where I can download a trial of 64-bit SEM 12.1 for an unmanaged client please because I've been searching for hours and the Symantec website is making my head spin!

    Thanks

Thanks for the responces however I'm still getting the same error when I execute that the file is not compatible with my operating system (64-bit MS Server 2008 R2 which I see is supported).

Before I get to the download it clearly says:

"Symantec Endpoint Protection Small Business Edition 12.1 (32-bit, 64-bit or Mac Client, and Management Console)"

But when I get to the downloads there are no 32/64 bit options.  Does anyone have a link specifically to a 64 bit version.. or have any other idea?!

    Thanks

    Hi,

There is no version of SEPM 64 bit.

The Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager (SEPM) is a console which is intelligent enough to check itself and install itself on any type Operating System (32 bit / 64 bit)

You can export SEP 64 bit Client package

    Hello,

    So, Are you installing the

Symantec Endpoint Protection Small Business Edition 12.1 Management Console

    OR

just the Unmanaged Symantec Endpoint Protection Small Business Edition 12.1 client on your 64 bit Server machine?

    Here is the method:

    1) Click on Download Now next to Symantec Endpoint Protection 12.1 RU1 MP1 Small Business Edition (English)

    2) The File would be downloaded in the name of

    Symantec_Endpoint _Protection_12.1.1_MP1_Part1_Trailware_EN.exe

    3) Once Downloaded, double click on the File to Extract the contents to the Correct directory.

    4) Once Extracted,

You would see folder with name of

    1) SEP - This is for installing Unmanaged SEP client on 32 bit machine.

    2) SEPM - This is for the Symantec Endpoint Protection Small Business Edition Management Console.

    3) SEPx64 This is for installing Unmanaged SEP client on 64 bit machines.

    4) SEP_MAC - This is for installing SEP client on MAC machines.

    Hope that helps!!

    Thank you Mithun,

It's the unmanaged client I would like to trial on my server.

I get the compatibility issue as soon as I execute the Symantec_Endpoint _Protection_12.1.1_MP1_Part1_Trailware_EN.exe file.

If I run the file on my pc (as opposed to the server where I get the error) then a cmd window pops up for a nano second and I can't read what it says. It doesn't appear to have extracted anything though. I've run a search for "SEP" and there are no folders.

    Hello,

The Symantec_Endpoint _Protection_12.1.1_MP1_Part1_Trailware_EN.exe is basically a self extractor zipped file.

I would request you to unzip it on a local client machine, rather on the server machine.

Once extracted on a machine, you may find the SEPx64 folder.

Copy the SEPx64 folder on the server machine and then run the setup.exe from the same.

    Hope that helps!!

    Hi again,

    Thanks, I appreciate your help.

I have tried running Symantec_Endpoint _Protection_12.1.1_MP1_Part1_Trailware_EN.exe on 2 other machines (one on XP, the other on Win7) and all that happens is a cmd window (with no text in it) pops up, then disappears again. I get no extraction options and I can't see that it's auto-extracted the files anywhere.

Am I missing something very simple here?! If it's not too much trouble can you confirm exactly what happens when you run the above file please?

    Hello,

Is there a software installed on your machine like WinZip / 7zip?

If not, please install the same.

    Hope that helps!!

AH, At last! Thank you so much, that was driving me nuts.

Yes, unextracting it in Winzip worked. No idea why it didn't self-extract on 3 different machines. Very odd.
