What SEP version number is required for Server 2008 R2 and Windows 7

Hi, I read this somewhere: "Symantec Endpoint Protection 11.0 Release Update 5 (RU5) or higher is supported on Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2. All previous versions of Symantec Endpoint Protection will not run on Windows 7 or Windows Server 2008" we are running version 11.0.5002.0, will this version work for these two new operating systems or will I have to upgrade to (at least) 11.0.5002.333 ? Thanks in advance! Alan

11.0.5002.0 has "issues" so, it will work but best to upgrade

Even 11.0.5002.0 will work but in then  case you have manually replace 2 files from the installation folder, lucheck.exe and lusetup.exe.

If you have 11.0.5002.0 you have to follow this

If possible upgrade to SEP RU6 and then push the pacakge it will work great,'

Sorry Alan, but where are you getting that version number from?

I ask because .0 is not a valid build number.

11.0.5002.x is RU5, the release build number is 333 (hence 11.0.5002.333)

I  think he is refrering to the  SEP install package that got downloaded through liveupdate in SEPM, When we upgrade the Manger to RU5 , the SEPM version shows 11.0.5002.333 , but the cleint packge still show  11.0.5000.2 or 11.0.5002.0 ( I am not sure about the version ).But when we try to add the 11.0.5002.333 package in SEPM we get the messgae that the package already exists.

When an install packge is created with the help of this packge the version shows 11.0.5000.2 or 11.0.5002.0

But if a cleint is upgraded through auto upgrade shows the version as 11.0.5002.333.

That is correct. When we post a package for download by SEPM it has to appear as a .0. SInce that package is the same as the RU5 version you will get an error that it is already imported..

    thanks for the responses.

when i click 'About' on the managment console I can now see that we are running 11.0.4202.75. That explains perhaps why it couldn't recognise the Windows Server 2008 R2 machine.

Judging by the posts it sounds like the thing to do at this stage is to upgrade to RU6

    thanks, Alan
