    Hello,

Is the SEP client installed on all the client machines with the Latest virus definitions?

Check this Thread on Symantec tools to help clear an infection

    https://www-secure.symantec.com/connect/forums/your-system-infected-symantec-tools-help-clear-infection

and check this site on Symantec Malware Removal Tools

    http://www.symantec.com/security_response/malware.jsp

If your are facing a virus issue, it is advisable to follow few important steps:

    1) Make sure all these machines are Patched with ALL Latest MS security patches and service packs.

    2) Make sure the machines are installed with the Latest Symantec virus definitions.

    3) Disable the Autorun Feature on the machine.

If its not detecting any viruses, you need to look at your settings.

First, keep in mind Symantec Antivirus is not supported anymore. If you want advanced protection, I would require you to migrate to SEP 12.1.

Regarding infections, please follow these steps:

     - Ensure you have a SEP client install on all machine

     - Ensure all SEP clients are up-to-date

     - Ensure all machines are patched

     - Use PowerEraser to detect theat and remove them (http://www.symantec.com/theme.jsp?themeid=spe-user-guide)

     - Use SERT to boot on a CD and clean your machine (http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH131732)

Marksh.... try SEP Support tool (there's power eraser inside) as suggested by John Q..

Since normal SAV didn't manage to detect anything...it could be a new variant?

Excellent news, Marksh!  Many thanks for updating this forum thread.

Now that the laptop is working, I recommend taking the time to ensure that your organization is following best security practices to keep this and the other computers safe.  (An ounce of prevention is much better than a pound of cure, when it comes to malware!)

Here is a page from Symantec's Security Response that can help: http://www.symantec.com/theme.jsp?themeid=stopping_malware

    Cheers once again!
