    Hello everyone

I've just installed Symantec Endpoint Protection for Small Business. I bought 35 licenses for 35 end points. Do these 35 licenses include unmanaged clients? How does licensing work in that case? Or do I have to buy individual licenses for each unmanaged client? If not how do I include unmanaged clients in the license summary in the endpoint manager?

    Thanks for your answers

    Hello,

For SEP 12.1 unmanaged client licensing is required. If we install unmanaged client Sonar, IRON and other new features do not work. To enable the submission of reputation data from an unmanaged client, you must install a paid license on the client. Use the following procedure to install a license on an unmanaged client.

Thanks for your help. In that case I have to place the 35 licenses SLF file in each unmanaged client? How does the manager recognizes that I have used all the 35 licenses including unmanaged clients if there's no connection between the manager and the unmanaged clients?

My question is because I have 25 managed clients and 10 unmanaged clients. That means I have no licenses available. But the manager says I still have 10 available.

A bit confusing but I hope you understand my question.

    Thanks

    Hello,

    I completely understand your question.

These unmanaged clients would not show their status on the SEPM as they are not reporting.

However, as we see is - All these clients would be connecting to SEP liveupdate server for updates and Symantec Liveupdate server knows to which clients to provide the updates to.

Secondly, I believe it's Trust and Agreement.

unmanaged client license is not reflected on SEPM manager as it is not reporting, however wherever there is audit and if there arise a question whether the software is licesnse you can show it based on the slf file.

Also as highlighted to enable insight the slf file is needed.

    Hello,

    I agree with Pete's Comment.

While Auditing, these Unmanaged clients would be in question in reference to the Licensing of Softwares.

Secondly, the License mostly entitles to receive the updated Software and it's content updates along with Support on the Softwares.

    Hope that helps!!
