As you may have seen from another post, I had a problem with a BSOD when attaching a Freecom XXS USB drive that had been partly encrypted.
So I reformatted the drive whilst trying to solve that problem (which turned out to be a driver problem in the end).
It still gets recognised by windows as an encrypted drive and asks for the passphrase. When I try to resume using PGP Desktop, nothing appears to happen.
I've used the commmand line to glean the following information:
pgpwde --status --disk 1
Disk 1 is instrumented by bootguard.
Encryption process interrupted by user request
Current key is valid.
Whole disk encrypted
Total sectors: 976769023
If I try to manually resume, I get the following
pgpwde --resume --disk 1 --passphrase xxxxxxxxx
Operation resume encrypt or decrypt failed:
Error code -11984: item not found
There's nothing on the drive that I need, so is there a way to either force it to continue the encryption, or even just remove it completely from the USB drive so that I can start again from scratch.
I did try the following, also unsuccessfully:
pgpwde --uninstrument --disk 1
Uninstrument error
Disk 1 has an authenticated encryption key
Disk 1 use decrypt to remove
Operation uninstrument disk failed:
Error code -11971: already in use
So can anyone help me?
Thanks
