Unable to install Altiris Agent

how are you executing the install?

    The agent version I am trying to install is 7.1.8350.15350 on a 64 bit machine with Windows 7.

    Hi Jim, I've tried to install it using the push, manually using the command line and through the IE.

    When I install using the push from console, the report says that its installed successfully..

    Sounds like permissions. Is QA running it?  Is QA part of local administrators?  Is UAC enabled or disabled?

    QA is part of Administrators and I've tried to install using the Admin account as well.

    Any additional details?  Your log doesn't end with anything juicy.  How about some data from the Application event log in Windows?

    Did you modify this log to remove your server name for privacy reasons or is this actually how the log looks?  If this is actually how it looks it appears the install task is not sending the correct server name along.  

    Command line: AeXNSAgentInst.exe /install /ns=<ServerName>

    The event is not getting recorded in the Application event for Windows Log.

    Hi Joe, 

    The name is removed for privacy/security reasons. In the log I've a valid server name.

    Your manual command line.. what is it running against?  aexnsc.exe?  What is your command line?

    The command line is AeXNSC.exe /install /ns=<Server Name>

    Server name is not written here on the commnad line I am using a valid one.

    FQDN of the server (server.mycompany.com) not short DNS (server), right?

    What if you try this format instead?
    aexnsc.exe –s –a ns=”lab1.altiris.com” nsweb=”http://lab1.altiris.com/Altiris” /s
