WHEN I Reconfiguring  SEPM...... I GET ERROR  "Error On preparing database Failed to connect to database please make sure USERNAME AND PASSWORD ARE CORRECT 

PLESE ANYONE HELP ME,,,,,,,,,,,,,,I AM WAITING EAGRLY

is it possible to rebuild, in case if you have te DB backup and the certificates?

Hi,

While reconfiguring SEPM you are stuck at username & password screen.

You will have to enter encryption password not login password.

Encryption and login passwords are two different passwords.

Check ODBC connectivity with encryption password.

Start --> Run --> odbcad32.exe --> System DSN  --> Select Symantec Endpoint Security DSN --> Click on configure --> Click on test connection --> It should have connection successful.

If connection failed check odbc settings, enter usernmae (dba) password (Encryption password), dba name (sem5), test the connectivity.

we dont have db bkp and certificates...

any possible way to start the SEPM serives...

pls guide me

but SEPM SERIVCE IS NOT RUNNING....I TRIED REPAIR AND RECONFIGURE SEPM.....UNABLE TO RECONFIGURE

Hello,

Could you please Run the upgrade wizard located: 'C:\Program Files\Symantec\Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager\bin\upgrade.bat'

If these above steps does not work, then to understand the root cause, we may need to have a look at the scm-server-0.log and catalina.out, the same could be found on 

C:\Program Files\Symantec\Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager\tomcat\logs

Hope this may help you.

Hello,

Do you have a replication set between 2 SEPM servers??

Upon checking the logs above, we found the following :

In the scm-server-0.log, we found:

JZ006: Caught IOException: java.net.ConnectException: Connection refused: connect

and in catalina.out, we found:

Catalina.start: LifecycleException: Protocol handler initialization failed: java.io.IOException: Keystore was tampered with, or password was incorrect

LifecycleException: Protocol handler initialization failed: java.io.IOException: Keystore was tampered with, or password was incorrect

this is password issue, since you do not know the password. Find the password using the link and correct it in ODBC connectivity and try confoguring the management server wizard.

As pete advised follow password recovery method.

Enter your recovered password and you should be able to complete management server configuration wizard.

I RESTORED THE KEYSTORE FROM THE BACKUP.........\\Program Files\Symantec\Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager\Server Private Key Backup

I Restored  the keystore from backup, and paste it in the Tomcat etc folder Example:

  C:\Program Files\Symantec\Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager\tomcat\etc ...

what does error says when you right password and the resttore keystore from backup?

I believe the certs are corrupted or its not the one which was installed earliler.

Open a ticket with Symantec, and may be reinstall might the option you would be left with.

Hi,

It means you are able to login to SEPM successfully but you are facing problem while accessing reporting tab ?

Is it happening for only reporting tab or is it happening for first three tabs ? (Home, monitors, Reprots)

I FOLLOW BELOW RECOVERY METHOD TO FIND DB PASSWORD........

For ODBC

Click Start > Run and type "odbcad32"

Data required in ODBC

Username should be "DBA"
Password should be the first password that you used to login to SEPM.
Server name should be the name of the server.
Database name should be  "sem5"

If you dont remember the password follow the following steps to get the password

•  Remove all the details from ODBC and change the name for the database from sem5 to SEM
•  

(NOTE:    HERE I UM UNBLE OT RENAME SEM5 THEN I STOPPED SYM EMBED DATABASE SERVICE THEN RENAME )

• Go to C:\Program Files\Symantec\Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager\Php\
• Go to php.ini properties, and uncheck the read-only option
• Open php.ini using a notepad
• Modify the following lines to read:

             display_errors = On
             display_startup_errors = On
