Symantec services status as “stopping”

    It is observed that Symantec client is backdated with respect to latest virus definition. After checking, it is found that Symantec services status as “stopping”. Please suggest any solution for same and causes for same.

    Hello,

    What version of SEP 11.x are you running? What OS is this issue occurying on?

    Is this issue ocurrying on 1 machine or all the SEP client machines?

    If this is happening on all SEP client machines then was there any changes performed on the SEPM server, like rollback of definitions or Tamper protection turned off?

    and if this is happening on only 1 client machine, then

    Run a Repair of SEP client from Add / Remove Programs and Reboot the machine, then please update the SEP client with Intelligent Updater and check.

    Repair the SEP client or restart its services or reboot the machine and check.

    What is the OS & SEP Version on same clients.??

    Restart the system and then start the Service. If any error occured then try the below attach link

    At Jackie,

    The error code was same. My problem was about not updating of sep client and i found that the services as stopping state.

     

    At Mithun,

    Client Versions: mr4 mp2 to ru6 mp2 .. multiple versions

    This problem exists in some of the systems. Every time I can’t go n repair as our setup spread over multiple location.

    Hello,

    Could you check from the SEPM, if the Tamper protection is Turned ON and Locked on all the groups with the SEPM?

    Secondly, would it be possible for you to migrate the SEPM / SEP machines to the Latest version of SEP 11.0.7202.

    Hello,

    Tamper Protection could be found on -

    SEPM >> Client TAB >> Groups >> Policies TAB on the right hand side pane >> General Settings >> Tamper Protection TAB

    These settings are to checked and locked in each and every group / sub groups.

    Secondly, it is important to make sure you are running the Latest version of SEP, check this Article:

    My suggestion will be to uninstall sep from the machine and reinstall again.

    Mithun,

    This setting is enabled.

    Also I got this problem in live server, wherein I cant reboot it.

    I need to wait till i get downtime.
