  • 1.  Symantec Ghost Client Error Before and after Upgrade

    Posted Dec 08, 2010 08:56 PM

    Hi,

    Been following the post on this forum for some time now getting useful tips and work arounds but now I need to ask a question,

    Below are 2 Errors from a new XPProSP3 (patched to 8/12/2010) Install + all my standard installed applications

    Note: I am running 2266 with the 2269 patch over the top (manual copy of the 6 .exe files)

    This one comes after i install SGC (Ghost client) for the first time and every time I restart

    Any Ideas how to fix this? as I haven't had this error on any of the other workstations (350+)

    Cheers

    Does this one machine differ from the others in any aspect, eg number of hard disks, bios revision, ram  ?

    Try installing via the client.msi file located in the C:\Program Files\Symantec\Ghost\ClientInstall folder. Manually copy this to that client and install as you would another application and see if that works.

    Thank you,

    @Edt:

    Computer is identical to 10 other working ones with the same bios revision and settings

    @Randall Newnham:

    Thats where I've always installed the client from.

    After taking an image from the computer using a boot CD and imaging 5 identical computers I got no errors.

    Going to format the orignal computer and remove all partitions and start again to see whats what.

    Formatting is a good idea. I was going to first suggest trying to connect to the C$ and Admin$ on that computer from the Ghost Console machine and verifying that you have the access. Of course, if you have tried copying the file to the machine and manually running it locally this is unnecessary.

    The c0000005 error has been resolved in Ghost 2.5.1 build 2298. This documented here:
