Endpoint Protection

Is it possible to create an emergency recovery cd of some sort with Symantec Endpoint? I know that with older Norton products, you could create emergency backup disks. It would be great if I could do this with Endpoint, but on CD/DVD.

If I'm understanding you correctly, you're confusing the capabilities of a home user suite with that of a business oriented product. 

SEP has no capability or functonality to support backups of systems.  For a managed backup solution for small to medium businesses, you may want to take a look at Symantec Backup-Exec.

If your goal is simply to make a backup of the required database for SEPM to store its' data, then it does have a facility to make a single file backup of the database which can then be burned to cd/dvd (depending on the size of the database) if you so choose.

      As rightly suggested the data base can be backed up. Unfortunately a emergency CD cannot be created. We have a link below which explains as to what precautions you need to take during the backup. Its also commonly known as The Disaster Recovery Document.

We installed SPE11.0. on a desktop with a disk capacity of  65GB. We noticed that we were running out of disk space and usually clean off. But presently there is nothing to clean off and disk capacity usage is 100%. Pls does anyone know where to locate log files within the Inst files that can delete to create space. We need to access SEP via console. 

It would be helpful to us if you could not post about unrelated topics/ new topics on the bottom of other peoples threads. You will find your questions will be answered faster if you make a completely new topic. If you do so we will be glad to help, but since I am not sure we have answered stuartg's origional question yet I won't post about yours because I fear it will take the post away from him. Maybe I didn't post my question quite clearly enough, and for that I appologize. What my intensions are, is to create an emergency boot disk (repair disk), that could be used to scan an infected users computer if the virus(s) have disabled Symantec Endpoint Protection.

SEP does not allow boot disk..however there is a Scanner that we used to use in Support is the NSS ( notron security scan )utility 
It downloads the latest virus definitons from internet or you can also download the Rapid Release definitions and run this NSS tool either from the computer itself or by using USB stick.

This is actually a part of Norton product but it is freely available on the net

At this point of time this is the only alternative I am aware of.
Symantec had Emergency boot disks but that was for FAT32 file system.

No sorry I understand your question, I just didn't answer since I had assumed you already marked the thread solved (since it was marked solved). I wrote my response before because I didn't want to get taken in the wrong direction with Judeugo's post. We are trying to encourage users not to "post hijack" because it is sometimes confusing and not fair to the original poster.

Now are you still having trouble with your issue? I am confused at exactly what you are needing. In your first post it seemed like you were refering to making an emergency copy of a disk. Your newest reply makes it sound like you want a boot disk to scan the infected drive. Which one do you really mean, or do you want both? Sorry if I am not understanding fully, it has just been such a long time between your first post and this latest one. Also if you want the thread re-opened I can remove the "solved" mark so we know the post is still active. You just need to tell me and I will do it.

as a member from a production company with different systems and computers (old and new) do I need sometimes a cd with which i can boot a system and scan for viruses on th ís machines
not on all systems is it possible to install an antivirus, and as it is, this systems are a risk
i sam aware about the norton product, but i suggest for company´s shud be also available
