I've encountered few pc running on the Symantec Endpoint protection 11 which is unable to run virus scanning manually. I've successfully installed the client pc as unmanaged client and able to updates the virus definitions.

    1) The problem encounter is after the installation and complete updated virus definitions when I try to click on the full scan the antivirus will crash and show error message send and don't send.

    2) Hope that anybody can help to solves this issues. I've tried to removed and install again but to no avail.

    3) I managed to traced the error report and export it into text file.

    Hi,

Are you using SEP MR4 ?

RU6 MP3 is most recent built by Symantec.

Check whether you can scan the system with power eraser or not ?

If not, for safer side also check machine is infected or not ?

Run SEP support tool to collect if any suspicious files are present on the System.

Here is the location of the Symantec Endpoint Protection Support Tool:

    Hi,

    It's a permission issue.

SEP support tool log says local security policy's network access ,sharing and security model is set to : guest, only local users authenticate as a guest

    Possible cause of issue :

    1) A local Security Policy (GPO) is limiting stop/start of Symantec Endpoint Protection service when clients are not connected through LAN to corporate network

    2) The GPO policy does not include group of "Authenticated Users"Try following steps :

    Possible solution

    1) Remove limitation of handling of Symantec Endpoint Protection service through the GPO in local policies -> Security options

    2) Alternatively you may include group of "Authenticated Users" in the GPO

    hi,

Do i need to change the setting in the client pc or from server? I've search the setting from the Local Policy Settings -> Local Policies -> Security Options. This is the setting available.

if the machine is part of domain, do it through domain server.
