Do you still have Symantec Endpoint Protection 11 in your environment?

On January 5th, 2015, Symantec Endpoint Protection 11.0.x and Symantec Endpoint Protection Small Business Edition 12.0 will reach End-of-Support-Life and no longer be entitled to support, LiveUpdate, virus definitions and security updates. To remain protected, ensure all of your endpoints have been migrated to version 12.1 and activate the advanced protection available through Insight reputation scoring and SONAR behavioral monitoring. Endpoints that continue to run Endpoint Protection 11.x and SBE 12.0 after End-of-Support Life (EOSL) will no longer receive virus definitions, content updates, break fixes, patches, workarounds or technical support.

Hello, I am attemting to download the free trialware to update Symantec Endpoint Protection 11 to version 12 on a mac osx yosemite 10.10.2 and receive the following error when I double click on the downloaded file from the symantec website:

Safari can’t open the file “Symantec_Endpoint_Protection_12.1.5_Part1_Trialware_EN-2.exe” because no available application can open it.

    Hi Andy,

If it is for Mac, you should download the SEP Client for Mac package Symantec_Endpoint_Protection_12.1.5_Mac_Client_EN.zip.

If you need to upgrade your SEPM to 12.1, then you should download on your Windows server the package named Symantec_Endpoint_Protection_12.1.5_SEPM_EN.exe. Once upgraded, you may export the Mac 12.1.5 package from the SEPM to the Mac client.

If you have only the package you mentioned (Symantec_Endpoint_Protection_12.1.5_Part1_Trialware_EN-2.exe), then it is most likely the SEPM installation package, and thus to use on a Windows OS instead of Mac.

    Hi All,

We will Symantec officially stop the update in the SEPM manager for SEP 11.X clients?

I know it's still supported now on "best effort" basis but the KB didn't mention any end date...

    Hello cus000,

It is requested to migrate to the Latest version of SEP 12.1 RU5 immediately, as the Symantec is no longer releasing definitions for SEP 11.x

In case, you have Symantec Endpoint Protection 11.x clients in your network and cannot migrate them immediately, it is suggested to migrate the SEPM 11.x to the Latest version of SEPM 12.1.

By Migrating the Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager (SEPM) Console to 12.1, it would provide the older SEP 11.x clients definitions without any issues as there is a conversion engine.

However, it would be important to migrate the clients to the Latest version of SEP 12.1 in the near future.
