    I seem to have a problem with a game, everytime I start it up, the program closes and this box comes up saying "Symantec CMC SmcGui has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience." Pressing Debug doesn't come in use as it only closes the anti-virus system and still occurs. I have Windows XP and Symantec Endpoint protection. This problem did not happen until a sudden time where it started to happen. I've been looking through the internet for a solution to this, but I can't find any, so I was hoping that somebody could help me here? Thanks.

    What version of SEP 11 are you running? There was an issue like yours that was solved way back in MR2.

    Hello,

    What version of SEP is installed?

    Please check if you have the latest version of SEP. The Latest version is 11.0.6300

    You can download it from https://fileconnect.symantec.com using your serial number.

     

    We recommend you to upgrade the Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager and all clients to Latest version.

    If you are carrying old version than 11.0.6005, there would be 2 upgrades you will have to go through. Please check the steps below:

    1) From Symantec Endpoint Protection older version  to Symantec Endpoint Protection 11.0.6005 (RU6a)

    2) From Symantec Endpoint Protection 11.0.6005 (RU6a) to Symantec Endpoint Protection 11.0.6300 (RU6 MP3)

    What is the release version of SEP , ex RU5, Ru6 Mp1/MP2/MP3?

    Run Windows Installer CleanUp Utility to remove SEP. (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/932857)

    Windows Installer CleanUp Utility is not available on MS website, they removed this tool some time ago.

    The Windows clean up installer tool, change the ext to .exe
