Hi,

Apparently Symantec AV 10 has reached EOL (end of life) on Netware 6.5. This typically means no more patches or fixes. In the case of SAV 10 however, will the virus signatures still be updated?

also, Is Symantec aware Novell has extended the support life for NetWare 6.5?

Novell can do as it pleases, & so can Symantec. SAV v10 was released in 2005 and has reached Symantecs 7 year limit for a supported product.

I had the same question for our account manager. His reply is posted below

SAV 10.x virus definitions will continue to be published via regular channels after end of support life but may be removed by
Symantec at anytime.

Virus definition extension contracts are available & can be requested for up to 12 months after end of support life
(EOSL). This applies to supported SAV 10.x Windows platforms only.

Time to start planning to get rid of Netware. IMO

Hi Richard,

NetWare still has life left in it, but with the EOSL for SAV 10, Symantec will no longer have a supported product which is designed to scan and protect its file systems.  There's no guarantee that SAV 10 defs will be available on July 5 or will function on SAV for Netware.
