  • 1.  Software Portal Requests Remain 'Open'

In Altiris 7.1 we use Managed Software Delivery Policies and Software Portal to deliver software to clients.

When the policies are first created they work fine, however after each policy has been used to deploy software on a number of machines (this seems to range from 50 to about 200), Altiris stops automatically approving the requests, even though they are set to pre-approved in the policy. At this point all the requests for that particular policy appear in the Administrator Portal as 'Open', and the software doesn't get deployed to the client.

The only work-around we have found is to deny the request in the Administrator Portal, and delete the 'Portal Internal Target' from the policy. The next time the software is requested, the policy creates a new internal target, and the software deploys fine (until the problem repeats).

Has anyone seen this before, or have a fix?

    HI,

We have been plagued with this for several months now and we submitted a case through our engineer to have development look at the issue.

In our environment, we have heirarchy established. Deleting the policy and re-replicating resolves the issue for us. Pretty much what you're doing.

I ended up creating a sql script to look for the items in the Open state then modify the attributes of the policies so I could delete them on the child server. (Hierachy makes then un-deletable.)

Our version is SMP 7.1 SP1.

They said it is fixed with SP2. Since we're just upgrading, I am waiting to see if it does.

What version is your SMP server?

Thanks for the reply. I don't think SP2 will help; we're running SMP 7.1 SP2 Rollup V3 and still have the issue. Rollup V4 is out, but I can't see any reference to Software Portal in the release notes.
