I have attached a screenshot of the SEPM manager, it is showing old windows definitions and when you try to update it via the mabager through

download liveupdate content or when you run LUALL.EXE. it tells you no update found.

    Has anyone seen this before.

I am using SEP 12.1 on windows server 2003 enterprise edition SP2

I would start from the reinstallation of LiveUpdate which might be corrupted. Please follow the following document:

How to Uninstall and Reinstall LiveUpdate on SEPM 12.1 (Enterprise Edition or Small Business Edition)

    Hello,

Are you using a Proxy on your Environment?

Have you configured proxy wihin SEPM? If not, configuring will help.

    http://www.symantec.com/business/support/index?page=content&id=TECH102335

The following steps explain how to setup the Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager to use a proxy server to download content via LiveUpdate.

    1. Click on Admin
    2. Click on Servers
    3. In the "view servers pane" select the name of the manager under local site
    4. After selecting your server, in the tasks pane, click on Edit Server Properties, a dialog box will open up
    5. Click on Proxy Server
    6. Fill out your appropriate settings and credentials for HTTP and FTP as required for access

The SEPM must also have the correct proxy authentication and settings before the proxy will allow the SEPM to pull down LiveUpdate content:

    1. In the Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager (SEPM) select the Clients tab, then select the group you would like to modify the proxy settings for.
    2. Select the Policies  tab on the right hand side.
    3. Under Location-Independent Policies and Settings locate the Settings box.
    4. In the box you will see External Communication Settings
    5. Click on the link and select the Proxy Server tab.

If incase, you have set the Proxy settings properly in SEPM and Liveupdate Application, then TRy Repairing the SEPM from Add/Remove Programs.

You could also update the Definitions manually on SEPM with the help of .jdb file. The steps are provided in the Article:

    http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH102607

    Hope that helps!!

    Hi,

Reinstall the liveupdate  follow the below steps:

    1.   Click Start Control Panel.
    2.   Click Add/Remove Programs.
    3.   Click LiveUpdate.
    4.   Click Change/Remove.
    5.   Follow the on-screen instructions to uninstall LiveUpdate.
    6.   Delete files/folders. (some of these files/folder will be gone from the uninstall)
                 On a 32-bit OS:
                          C:\Program Files\Symantec\LiveUpdate - Delete this whole folder
                          C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Symantec\LiveUpdate
Delete the files: Product.Inventory.LiveUpdate and Settings.LiveUpdate

                 On a 64-bit OS:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Symantec\LiveUpdate – Delete this whole folder
                         C:\Users\All Users\Symantec\LiveUpdate
Delete the files: Product.Inventory.LiveUpdate and Settings.LiveUpdate (ALL of them).
    7.   Install LiveUpdate from the CD   <drive>:\SEPM\lusetup.exe
    8.   Register SEPM with LiveUpdate:
           A. Click Start, then Run.
           B. Type cmd, then click OK. This will bring up a command prompt.
           C.  At the command prompt type cd and the path to lucatalog.exe:
cd C:\Program Files\Symantec\Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager\bin       (Enterprise Edition)
cd C:\Program Files\Symantec\Symantec Protection Center\bin                 (Small Business Edition)
    9.   Type lucatalog.exe -cleanup  When the command line path returns, cleanup is done.
    10. Type lucatalog.exe -update
     * If BackupExec is also installed it will also need to be re-registered with LiveUpdate from the command prompt, depending on the version of BE.
                                C:\Program Files\Symantec\Backupexec\beupdateops -addbe       OR
                                C:\ Program Files\Symantec\Backup Exec\beupdateops -addbe    OR
                                C:\LU\beupdateops -addbe -optout
     * If Mail Security is installed, re-register it with LiveUpdate from the command prompt.
From the command prompt, in the folder "C:\Windows\system32"
                       Run the command: regsvr32.exe "C:\Program Files\Symantec\SMSMSE\6.0\Server\SAVFMSELU.dll"
    11.  Click Start, then Run.
    12. Type luall, click OK

    Hello guys,

I am still having the same issue, but there was a slight improvement.

I have confirmed that the proxy ip address is in the right place and this problem just started this month the SEPM has been working very well since last year with the same Proxy ip address.

I actually uninstall the liveupdate and deleted all the liveupdate folder as suggested by Mohankumar then installed the liveupdate again.

After running the command luall.exe, it started and finished successfully with some of the security content updating.

I have attached a screenshot of the show liveupdate content and also a screenshot of the home page with the show liveupdate status, windows definitions date have still not changed.

So as Mithun Sanghav suggested, i now want to see if i could  Repair the SEPM from Add/Remove Programs

Any other suggestion while i try to do a repair on the SEPM.

Yes, this issue has been resolved, i did not do the repair anymore, i just had to run the livepudate(LUALL.EXE) a couple of times and it got all the updates, downloaded them and installed them successfully.

Thanks guys for all your contributions.
