  • 1.  SEPM Service could not be started.

    Posted Mar 29, 2012 12:15 AM

    Hi Everyone,

Good day. I'm trying to start the "Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager" service on the MS Windows services but failed and was prompted with the message saying "The SEPM service on Local Computer started and then stopped. Some services stop automatically if they are not in use by other services or programs."

Checking the Windows eventviewer log, it says "Could not initialize the Java Virtual Machine."

    Please see image attached.

    Any comment gladly appreciated.

    Thanks,

    John

    Hi All,

I think repairing the SEPM won't be a good one, we are using SQL as DB for our SEPM.

Attached file is the scm0.log requested. Please check.

    Thanks!

the log size is huge :-), can you cut and copy the data to other location. once deone attempt to restart the service and once failed pass on the log immediately.

also i would like you to open a support case as i feel the DB validation might fail. can you run the dbvalidator.bat and confirm if it passes?

It looks like there is some problem with your DB. From the logs there are several DB deadlock and constraint violation errors. Can you try an restart your DB first before restarting SEPM.

He's talking about the SEPM (manager), not the client.  Besides, if he copied the client, then he would need to play with HWID and Sylnk.
