This is regarding the following discussion that is already locked:
    https://www-secure.symantec.com/connect/forums/sepm-licensing-0

The subject was about checking the status of licenses in SEPM.

    Vikram Kumar replied the following:

That will show in the Symantec Protection Manager
    Checking license status
    http://seer.entsupport.symantec.com/docs/323612.htm

We bought a license believing that the non-trialware SEPM application has a license tab in the admin section that the trialware doesn't.

To my surprised both the tialware and non-trialware are EXACTLY the same.  There is no License section in the Admin tab.

After further investigation I realized that the document that Vikram sent me says the following at the buttom:
    Products Applied:
Endpoint Protection Small Business Edition 12.0

My question remains: How would I know how many licenses I have used and how many I have left?
We are planning to buy many licenses and this is a very important question to us.

    Thank you,
    Vic

In SEPM  there is no place where you can check this.

You have to do this manaully. From the pdf that you would have recived along with your subscription will give you a count of license that you have . For the no .of license used you can get a count from the SEPM home , ie on how manycomputer SEP is installed.

A diffrence of the two will tell the no. of license left

with respect to SEP 11.0 there is no license information to the software itself; its just paper licence
since there is no license there is no reporting function to report license :)

So basically Symantec is entrusting their customers not to exceed the number of protected clients vs. number of licenses purchased..

Does the SEPM console counts as a license? Or just the clients?

    Thanks :)

Only in SEP 12 licesne tab is there because only SEP 12 uses SLF license file.
Here SEPM keeps track of the clients.

In SEP 11.There is no track of how many clients you install. However Symantec Expects you will install only the number of Clients as much license you have bought..there is no tracking or it.

Well..I did say SEP 11..does not require license its all paperwork and only SEP 12 requires license...

But I think confusion started after that and I thought you were asking about SEP 12..as you were talking about just 100 clients.
