  • 1.  SEP v11 Broadcom Teaming Issue

    Posted Mar 11, 2011 04:43 PM

    Hi

We have recently rolled out SEP v11 on our network with relatively good success. However we attempted to deploy this on to one of our DC's, a Dell Poweredge 2650 which is setup with Broadcom NIC teaming.

The install seemed to go smoothly and the server operated normally until a restart, upon which the NIC teaming suite couldn't provide the static IP address to the team. We tried uninstalling and reinstalling both the Broadcom and SEP software but no success, we also attempted to break the team but still no success.

We have since re-imaged the server and currently do not run SEP on it for fear of having a repeat of last time. Does anyone know of this problem or indeed a resolution to this? I do not want to install SEP again only to find I need to do a reinstall after it restarts.

Clients using Broadcom Teaming software Blue Screen with Bugcheck 0xD1

Error "[0006] Broadcom {model} does not support teaming. Please select an adapter with NDIS 6 driver." when attempting to use the Broadcom Teaming Wizard application on Windows Server 2008

We're running it on Win 2003 R2 with up-to-date patches on it. SEP is also up-to-date.

Yes the install package does have the network threat protection component on it. Should it not?

    Hi Hula,

I have heard similar reports in the past, in cases where the BASP and Broadcom drivers were old and out of date.  Can you confirm the exact versions that are in use?  (Also the exact version of SEP!)

    Thansk and best regards,

    Mick

Hula, could you please log a case with Tech Support if it hasn't been done.

We have a new release, SEP 12.1 with updated driver for NDIS6, and you can signed it up and get notified when available later for public beta testing.

    Thanks.

If you want to update your drivers please go to the Broadcom Website. If I remember correctly the Poweredge 2650 uses the Netextreme I card.

    http://www.broadcom.com/support/ethernet_nic/netxtreme_server.php

On this page you can download the driver for your OS version. Don't forget to download the BACS driver at the bottom of the page (for the NIC teaming)

You probably cannot install the NIC driver and BACS driver from broadcom if you currently have the Dell drivers installed. Dell Drivers are really annoying because they package the BACS and NIC driver in one package and you cannot upgrade them to the Broadcom reference drivers which consists of two seperate installers.

Only way to do this is completely uninstall the Dell drivers (don't forget to copy the broadcom drivers to the DC) and reboot. Since it is a DC it will probably take a long time before you can login after the reboot because you don't have an active network card when the system boots so you might need to login using the local admin account.

    Hi

Sorry for the late update. We have since reinstalled Endpoint but without the NTP module installed. Everything seems to be in order. Thanks for the help
