We asked for a date from our TAM, the response was sometime this month. Makes it impossible to plan for new deployments that are queueing up.

One deployment in particular would have been an excellent opportunity to go the 2012 Windows/SQL route. However, am now forced to a strategy of deploying the current 12.1 RU1 MP1 release on 2008 R2 Windows/SQL paths, then upgrading to 12.1 RU2 when (if) it becomes available. Whilst the SEP upgrade will be relatively easily justified, upgrading the Microsoft bits will be much harder to get up.

    Disappointed.

    Hello,

The Release is due anytime this year. There is no official date for the Release of SEP 12.1 RU2.

Check this Comment from Michael Marfise, Director, Symantec Endpoint Protection.

"Our next release is currently in beta and we are targeting for general availability later this year with the specific release date being determined by achievement of our quality criteria. We do not have a specific date at this time."

    and

Also check the comment from "Ghent" in this Thread:

Wow that type of wishy washy non-committal leaves partners with no ability to plan/develop marketable strategies for Windows 8/2012 with any confidence unless SEP is replaced.

I think it more than reasonable to have expected a large security firm would have actually had support at the endpoint level for Windows 8/2012 on the RTM date for those O/S's. The backend can follow at a later date, it's not as critical for support. In terms of the Gartner Magic Quadrant 2 of the other leaders have support it in that form.
