  • 1.  SEP 12 / Windows Firewall

    Hi there,

I just installed SEP 12 with all options on a Windows 7 x64 machine. What I was expecting that SEP turns off internal firewall and communicates with Security Center to display everything is ok.

The problem is that the Windows internal firewall is still up and running and that security center tells me that another software has taken control. Next problem is that the client reports status ok, but it does not appear on the console.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks in advance

    - what exact version of sep 12.1 is it?

    - in the firewall policy for this client did you specified the SEP to disable the windows firewall? (firewall policy -> windows integration -> Disable Windows Firewall)

    - what is the status of the client on the console?

    Hello together,

we are running 12.1.1101.401 RU 1 MP 1.

If using all features from SEP, which status should the internal firewall have? Disabled? Or should the Windows Firewall service should be stoppen and disabled completely?

    Thanks for any update

is the SEPM too on 12.1 RU 1 MP1?

is you question windows security center showing false status or clients not reporting to SEPM?

Hi, yes SEPM has same version.

Clients do report to SEPM, and Windows Security Center says that Endpoint Protection manages the settings.

The big questions is: how can I check if Windows Firewall is disabled correctly, or ist it best practice to disable the firewall service?

if you are using SEP NTP then it is good to disable the windows firewall service.

Ok, done, but even though, Outlook does work on out of 10 when SEP Firewall is on. Disabling SEP firewall makes Outlook working perfectly.

    Please advise...
