    Hello,

I'm looking for a comparison between SEP 12 vs. SEP 11.5 vs. SEP 11.7. Is there already such a comparison available, at least SEP 12 vs. SEP 11?

    Thanks.

    Best Regards

Please find the difference between SEP11 and SEP12

    1. No IIS - it's build on Apache ------------- Built on IIS

    2. No Application and Device Control----Application and Device control is present

    3. No Location Awareness---------------------Location awareness is present

    4. No Installation packages--------------------Installation packages present

    5. Licensing (you will need *.slf file)------------No license

This link will direct you to an FAQ regarding SEP 12.0.x (Small Business Edition) and SEP 11.x (Enterprise Edition). As SEP 11 RU7 has not been released, we do not have any information on that build that is publicly available at this time. Our release notes are updated upon the release of new builds and will reflect any changes and/or enhancements added to RU7. The current release of SEP 11 is RU6MP3.

Also something to note, to ensure no confusion, we are currently working on a SEP 12.1 build which is slated to be released sometime this summer. This build will be a combination of SEP 11.x and SEP 12.0.x Small Business Edition in that depending on which license file a customer has purchased would determine which features of the product are "unlocked", so to speak.

What is the difference between SEP SBE 12.0 and SEP 11.0?

    • SEP SBE 12.0 is a product optimized for Small Business (<=100 nodes) customers.
    • It is much easier to install and use.
    • SEP SBE has all the features of SEP 11.0 except for Application and Device Control. It also does not support NAC.
    • With the introduction of SEP SBE 12.0, Symantec now has targeted offerings based on customer segment.
    • If you have more than 100 users, we would recommend SEP.
    • If you have less than 100 users, SEP SBE is the better fit.

Can I install SEP SBE 12 over SEP 11?

SEP SBE 12.0 clients can be installed over SAV 9.x or later, SCS 3.x, or previous SEP 11.x installs.

Can I migrate SEP Manager from the SEP 11 Management Console?

    • A customer that has SEP 11.0 deployed will have to uninstall the manager and then install the SEP SBE 12.0 manager.
    • The SEP SEB 12.0 manager can simply be used to push out the client software to upgrade SEP 11.0 clients to SEP SBE 12.0 client.
    • Existing policies can be migrated.

To add to that SEP 12 clients do not use Liveupdate as component anymore it installs a inbuilt liveupdate engine which would really enhance the performance of the client.

and SEP 12 also monitors IPv6
