Has anyone tried to get SEE 8.2 to work with a Samsung SSD with Opal? The software installs fine on the computer, but after restarting it for the first time I get an Exception Error message "Update Settings failed. Please, contact Administrator".

Hard Drive: Samsung SSD PM810 FDE 2.5" 128GB

    no haven't tried it.

     the8.2  installation guide says:
"Self-encrypting drives that don’t conform to the Opal 1.0 standard are not supported. Samsung Opal-compliant drives are not supported."

Opal is supported from 8.2. The error : "Update Settings Failed" is something else.

    Possible cause :

    1. Corrupte pacakge

    1. Locate the ".msi" files that were used for the installation of the Symantec Endpoint Encryption Framework Client and the Symantec Endpoint Encryption Hard Disk Client.

IMPORTANT: If using a command line results in any errors, try to run the same command from a batch file.

    2. Invoke the Windows Installer with the following command line parameters: MSIEXEC /i "[path]\SEE Framework Client.msi" REINSTALL="ALL" REINSTALLMODE="vomus" where [path] is the actual path on the client computer where the package was copied to.
    3. When the Windows Installer finishes executing, the upgrade for the Framework client will be installed. If you are prompted to restart your computer, select No. The next step will be to install the upgrade for the Hard Disk client.
    4. Invoke the Windows Installer with the following command line parameters MSIEXEC /i "[path]\SEE-FDClient.msi" REINSTALL="ALL" REINSTALLMODE="vomus"
    5. When the Windows Installer finishes executing, if a dialog prompting you to restart the computer displayed, click Yes.

    Hope this helps.
