  • 1.  Scan hosts that are in different groups

Anyway to take a list of hosts that might be in different groups, and send the command to scan? I have a list of hosts that I need to send this command to, and sending them one at a time is rather tedious. Could I do this from a list of hosts, or script this somehow?

    Any ideas?

I don't believe this is possible. You would have to do it one at a time unfortunately.

Unfortunately the scan command from SEPM can be send either to single machines or the whole groups. Probably no way of picking up several of them and sending the command from SEPM console.

What you can do as alternative is to use the doscan.exe command:

    http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH104287

...from either command prompt or scipted and sent to specific clients.

    The tool has several options:

    - scanning of specific files, folders or drives only

    - triggering the scheduled scans

    - running quick scan

does the doscan.exe command run on the client machine, or is that sometihng i could run from the server that SEPM is installed on?

i.e. if run from the server, I could build a script that would run through an array of hosts that I want to scan.

It would run on the client. You could build a script to kick it off remotely.

would like to. Do not have access to the clients that I can do this. Would need to bring in another team, which is sometimes not the easiest thing to do.
