When is the end of life for Symantec Antivirus Corporate 9? How about the end of support life? If I have read correctly, after the end of support life, I will no longer be able to get antivirus updates. Is that correct?

    Regards,

    Allen

From this page http://www.symantec.com/avcenter/download/pages/US-SAVCE.html is states:

"Symantec Antivirus 9.x will reach its End of Support Life as of March 31, 2009. Virus definition updates for version 9.x will be discontinued on April 1, 2009.Symantec Antivirus 9.x will reach its End of Support Life as of March 31, 2009. My server is still receiving updates for this. I've read through the documentation and it doesn't indicate whether the definition updates will stop or not.

Can anyone confirm if this is a goodwill gesture from Symantec which could or will be removed at any time, or if there is some additional support in terms of continuing to put out definitions for EoSL products?

We're struggling on with some Netware 6 Servers here which are supported by V9. Yes, I know, not my "choice". It would be useful to know when or if the definitions are likely to stop?

What you are seeing is perhaps definition consolidations.  Rather than write for the 50 iterations of a particular virus, they will often combine signatures into one signature to reduce and optimze def footprint.

You are not getting current defs as far as I know at least as told to me from a symc employee.
