  • 1.  Running LiveUpdate from the commandline

    Posted Sep 17, 2008 04:07 AM

I want to run the LiveUpdate in a SAV environment from the commanline rather then using the LiveUpdate button in the SAV client.

When i run LUALL.EXE, the product box shows only the two options "LiveUpdate" and "Symantec Security Software Update". Therefore, the definitions will not be updated.

When i run the LiveUpdate button from the client, the product box show "AVENGE MICRODEFS25 SAVCORP10" and "LiveUpdate" and the defintions will be updated.

How can i make it running from the commandline with LUALL.EXE?

    With kind regards,

    Bernd

    You can use this command line "Luall.exe" -a -s [ -p"Avenge MicroDefs25 SavCorp10" -l"SymAllLanguages"]"

    Hi Bernd,

If you are running 32-bit SAV 10, you might be better using the VDTM technology which SAV clients use to receive definitions from their SAV parent server.  These updates happen automatically: there is no need to create scheduled tasks or .bat scripts to run commands.

VDTM is not a feature with 64-bit SAV clients, and it does need a SAV parent server so unmanaged clients will not be able to use it.

Some more information is available in the following article:

Updating virus definitions for Symantec AntiVirus Corporate Edition 10.x and Symantec Client Security 3.x

    Thanks and best regards,
