  • 1.  Remote Installation of SEP 12

    I have recently come across the issue that Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager will not remotely push out the client software to new client pcs. It just sits at the progress screen with the blue cursor bouncing back and forth at 0%. It will never push it out to the client. Any input would be appreciated.

    Can you give us some details of your environment?

    1. SEP version and build number

    2. OS(s) that are having the issue and number of clients affected

    3. Uprade or new install?

    Well I updated our management console to version 12.1.1000.157 from version 12.1.671.4971 now and I am having all sorts of issues. All my clients that were listed as managed are now listed as unmanaged and I am unsure of how to make them managed again especially when the clients say that they are offline. I am having issues with win xp, and win 7. And originally these were all a new install.

    Hi, Before a migration, backup of SEPM database and settings is recommended to be able to come back to a working status in case of failure. It seems your case. In the same way you can also restore your SEPM in a test network for testing and troubleshhoting before trying again in production.

    Disregard that comment about the clients not being managed by the server. Restarting the server again fixed this issue and all the clients are reconnecting with the server. I am still having the issue of the client deployment wizard not working and sitting at 0%.

    Hello,

    Are you facing when try to Export the package OR during the deployment of the package from the SEPM's client deployment wizard?

    In case, you are facing issues exporting the package then, try creating a package with Basic Content option instead of All content and check.

    Just doing a basic content pushout worked!!! SEPM's client deployment wizard was not working doing a full push out but the basic pushout now works. Thanks everybody!

    Symptom:

     

    Export of a client package from SEPM does not complete on non-English Windows, when SEPM is configured to use the embedded database.

    Solution:

     

    SEPM was modified to use a different database method to obtain binary stream data
