Hey all.
Update. I went out to the customer site yesterday and removed the Endpoint installation, rebooted and reinstalled. The install said it was successful but I still am getting the same error message when I try to log in to the Endpoint console.
So, to recap, here is where we are at:
- Server OS is Server 2008 Standard. Patched to current, not a domain controller.
- The EP Protection Managers has gone through a successful local console install.
- The database service starts correctly.
- I am presented with the console logon dialog box.
- When I log in, I am presented with this error:
“Failed to connect to the server. Make sure that the server is running and your session has not timed out. If you can reach the server and cannot log on, make sure that you provided the correct parameters. If you are experiencing network issues, contact you system administrator.”
No events are logged in the windows event logs when this occurs.
- The Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager service is not started. When I attempt to start this service I receive the following error:
“ The Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager service on Local Computer started and then stopped. Some services stop automatically if they are not in use by other services or programs. “
- The following events ERRORS are then logged in the application event log in the following order:
ID=4097 // The LoadLibrary function failed for the following reasons: The specified module could not be found.
ID=4096 // Could not load the Java Virtual Machine.
ID=4098 // The semsrv service failed to start.
My hunch is that solving the first two ID errors will resolve the problem. Why (what is) LoadLibrary function failing. And the Java Virtual Machine is not loading. If the EP Manager needs the Java Virtual Machine then that is your reason. Now, just how to fix.
Help appreciated.
