Symantec Encryption 10.3.2/3.3.2
This release provides integration with Norton Zone, support for new operating systems and platforms on Apple Mac OS X, Microsoft Windows, and Linux, and a variety of improvements around deployment, disk recovery, and user experience for Symantec Drive Encryption users.
10.3.2/3.3.2 includes the following features:
- Symantec Encryption Management for Norton Zone
Symantec Encryption Management for Norton Zone provides the ability to store users’ Norton Zone account encryption keys on the customer’s premise, enabling users to encrypt data stored in the cloud.
- Compatibility with Microsoft Windows 8.1
You can install Symantec Encryption Desktop for Windows on systems running Microsoft Windows 8.1 Pro and Microsoft Windows 8.1 Enterprise, both 32- and 64-bit versions.
- Compatibility with Microsoft Windows Server 2012
Symantec Encryption Desktop for Windows and Symantec Drive Encryption for Windows are compatible with Microsoft Server 2012.
- Compatibility with Mac OS X 10.8.5 and 10.9
This release supports the installation of Symantec Encryption Desktop for Mac OS X on systems running Apple Mac OS X 10.8.5 and 10.9.
- Compatibility with New Linux Packages
Symantec Drive Encryption for Linux is now supported on 32-bit and 64-bit versions of Ubuntu 12.04.3 LTS and Red Hat Enterprise Linux/CentOS 5.10.
- Compatibility with Microsoft Exchange Server 2013 (Cumulative Update 2)
Symantec Gateway Email Encryption is now compatible with Microsoft Exchange Server 2013.
- Local Self Recovery now available on Microsoft Windows 8 UEFI systems
On Microsoft Windows 8 UEFI systems, you can now use Local Self Recovery to create security questions after encrypting your internal disk. You can answer the security questions and bypass PGP BootGuard in case you forgot your passphrase. (This option may not be available if disabled by policy in a managed environment.)
- User Interface for Microsoft Windows Pre-Installation Recovery
Microsoft Windows Pre-Installation (WinPE) provides a bootable recovery tool to recover data from an encrypted drive that has been damaged or corrupted. You can now boot to a system that has been damaged or corrupted using a WinPE recovery CD or USB drive and then use the new graphical user interface to recover an encrypted drive.
- Creating System Images with Symantec Encryption Desktop
This release supports the creation of a system image (also known as a golden image, master image, or base image) with Symantec Encryption Desktop for ease in deploying Symantec Encryption clients to enterprise users.
- New Pre-Boot Smart Card Compatibility
Added compatibility with Gemalto TOP DM GX4 72k (FIPS) cards for pre-boot authentication for Symantec Encryption Desktop for Windows.
- Compatibility with new external directory synchronization products
Symantec Encryption Management Server is now compatible with OpenLDAP 4.x and Microsoft Active Directory 2012 for external directory synchronization.
- Performance improvements on hibernation resume
This release reduces the amount of time it takes a hibernating system to return to Windows. Systems supporting Intel® Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) Instructions (AES-NI), can experience up to 8x faster speed.
- This release also includes defect fixes and open-source and third-party package updates, for increased quality and server and client security.
