Hi, guys. Here is the case:

We are using PGP Universal 3.2.1 (Build 4869) and PGP Desktop 10.2.1. We managed to install and run effectively PGP WDE solution on desktop machines. However, we are having issues on our laptops.

After clean PGP Desktop installation on laptop, encryption starts then stops immediately. The Resume button is not responding. We tried to resume from command line, but again it fails to start encryption, the progress bar stucks ar 0%. We found a KB article (TECH166069) describing excatly our case and stating the issue is resolved after PGP Desktop version 10.1.2 SP2. Unfortunately, we still have this issue making us unable to progress.

We need some help for troubleshooting this issue, thank you in advance.

After exploring many possible solutions with help of local and global Symantec people, it appears that PGP WDE is not supported for those windows systems using UEFI firmware. A similar case is given here http://www.symantec.com/business/support/index?page=content&id=TECH190829 . In addition a feature request is raised and maybe included in next version of PGP ( http://www.symantec.com/business/support/index?page=content&id=TECH194616 ) . For the time being Symantec support suggested to change bios settings from UEFI to legacy, which is quite understandable, then make a new format on the laptop for enabling the new settings. Of course fromatting is not an option for us since we are talking about corporate use of PGP.

In short, we are looking for alternative bypass methods for bios incompatibility while waiting for the next version of PGP, and our product is hanging on the wall unabling us to make use of it at all.

    thanks a lot.
