When I access the resources the bottom of IE says "invalid xml: XML document must have a top level element" This is only from my XP SP3 with IE7 machine, it works on the server 2003 server with IE7. This is our dev test server we are just bringing up so its the first ns7 server we have so dont have it working at all, any suggestions?

If you're getting IE related errors, I suspect that may be it.

It works on the server itself win 2003 with ie7, also works on a win7 with ie8 machine, but can't get it to work on xp sp3 with ie7, so wondering if there is anything I can try, I'm assuming its the machine as well but its not working on any of our imaged xp sp3 machines, any idea on a registry key, or active-x missing etc etc?

C:\Windows\Downloaded Program Files. The only one I show on both an XP and 2003 box are a "consoleutilties class" with a version of 6,0,0,2010. The server also has an appweaver control, but I believe that is specific to the server.

One question would be what version of .net do you have on the system? Not sure if it's a requirement or not, it shouldn't be for just a console, but I'm just musing.

yea I have the active-x for console utils, I have .net 3.5 sp1 on the xp box

Is there any known compatibility issues with xp sp3 and the console running on win7?  I'm wondering if its our image or something

Well just checked on a base xp sp3 install vs our image and it appears it is our image, not sure what is causing it though, so if anyone does have suggestions on possible reg keys etc that may be hosed let me know

between a base install and your image. It's possible that certain active-x content is not allowed.

well my team does the image as well, we do lock down active-x for non trusted sites for non admin users; however, I am using an admin account as well as had another admin try it out on his machine with the same results.
We have had some issues with strange security in our registry which I could test out using the MS tool to reset to default and at least see if that is where the problem lies, and if so just trying to find the exact section of the registry is going to be the hard part

Hi.  We had this same issue raised with Sym support and got a reply back today which seems to have worked.

Go to the Advanced Tab of Internet Options, check on "Enable native XMLHTTP Support" and restart the browser.

Has worked straight away for us.
