I have remote clients that connect often through VPN. When the clients are not connect to VPN, they have 192.168.x.x IP address. And when they connect to to VPN, they get 10.x.x.x IP address. In the logs, I can see that 192.168.x.x is in IP address1 and 10.x.x.x is in IP address2. And I have a location awareness condition for 10.x.x.x to connect to a GUP close to those remote clients. However, the clients are still downloading from SEP Manager.

My question here, does location awareness take in consideration IP Address2 or only IP Address1?

    Hello,

When you are applying a Location awareness Policy, you can apply a different Liveupdate Policy to the Computer so that once, they are out of the network they could use the new Liveupdate Policy which would let them download the updates directly from internet.

I understand how Location Awareness works. But does it work with the second IP address on the client or not? or only the first IP address?

    Hello,

Question: "But does it work with the second IP address on the client or not? or only the first IP address?"

Answer: Yes, It works with the Second IP address on the client as when the client is moving out of the network, it is the second IP in use.

You can identify the location based on IP addresses, WINS, DHCP, or DNS server addresses, network connections, and other criteria.

However, incase if you want another IP address, then you could do the necessary changes in MSL.
