    dear all,

    please help me:

    windows 7

    symantec small business edition unmnaged

    lan environment

    error liveupdate:
    Downloading failed, error summary...
    LU1835: The LiveUpdate server failed to respond in a reasonable amount of time.  This could happen because you could not connect to the server, the server is now unavailable, or you became disconnected to the server.  Try running LiveUpdate again.


    please advise.

    Error: "LU1835: Connection to the LiveUpdate server failed" (Enterprise)

    Navigate to  ...\All Users\Application Data\Symantec\LiveUpdate folder.
    Open the settings.liveupdate file

    The following settings must be changed:

    PREFERENCES\INTERNET_CONNECT_TIMEOUT=<value in seconds>
    PREFERENCES\INTERNET_READ_DATA_TIMEOUT=<value in seconds>

    The following is an example of how this setting would appear for a 30-second time-out value:

    PREFERENCES\INTERNET_CONNECT_TIMEOUT=30
    PREFERENCES\INTERNET_READ_DATA_TIMEOUT=30

    CHANGE THE VALUE TO 300

    Dear Mr. Kumar,

    thanks for your reply.

    i found a dozen of such files, do i need to change all of them?
    after changing such a file, while saving it shows "access denied" even after remove the read-only attribute.

    open control pannel
    select liveupdate
    make it to interactive
    start
    run
    here select only few components to download like only AV and AS
    check if that completes

    You have to edit the settings file(Last one which is do not having any number.)

    Copy the settings.liveupdate file and paste the file on the desktop

    After that make changes to the file and save it on desktop.

    Then replace the back to the original location.

    Any proxy you used on your environment? 

    Make sure you are able to browse to the websites below:
    a. Liveupdate.symantecliveupdate.com
    b. Liveupdate.symantec.com
    c. Symantec.com
