  • 1.  liveupdate button will not enable

    Running 10.1.8.8000 on two parent servers.

    When unchecking the "Do not allow client to manually launch liveupdate" from the SSC console and perform a reset all on the client options.  In 10 minutes, the "do not allow client..." is checked again.

    Any suggestions on how to enable the liveupdate button?

    To enable.
     

    1. Open your SEP console
    2. Go to policies, LiveUpdate
    3. Server Settings, check on  "Use  a LiveUpdate server" and let the dot on "Use the default Symantec LiveUpdate server"
    4. Then Click on Advanced Settings, check on "Allow the user to manually launch LiveUpdate" and it is an optional if you are going to check on "Allo the user to modify LiveUpdate schedule"

    Not running SEP 11.

    opened SSC
    Go to server, alltasks, liveupdate, configure
    * settings is set to default symantec liveupdate server

    then go to server, SAV, virus definition manager
    * unchecked do not allow client to manuall launch liveupdate.

    then go to server, SAV, client autoprotect options
    * reset all

    In 10 minutes, the settings are reversed to the original.

    I just want to be able to enable the Liveupdate button. 

    But each time I uncheck the settings, it seems to reverse it.   Can't figure what's causing to remain checked.

    Are we talking about managed clients?
    Mmmm.. How about this one, try to check on your registry.

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Symantec\Symantec Endpoint Protection\LiveUpdate\AllowManualLiveUpdate

    The value must be 1 to enable LiveUpdate button on Clients side.

    ... the registry key you provided is for Symantec Endpoint.

    the server we are running is a Symantec Enterprise.  I'm trying to enable the liveupdate button from the SSC console that is to manage all clients under the server.

    problem: changes on the SSC is not staying intact.  it is reversing.

    Sorry, I thought configuration of SEP and SSC are the same.
    I've tried to search on symantec support, hopefully it help.
