Client Management Suite

On Altiris CMS 7.1 I have a SQL 2008 package in the software library, it's about 4GB. I didn't have any problems uploading the installation files and I even tried uploading it twice. When trying to push a silent install to a client somehow the package stops the download at about 1.5GB... it takes only a few seconds to download 1.5GB to the client then the whole job times out. I'm not sure if there are some logs where i can look at the transfer progress of packages. Any advice? thanks

logs are on the client in the folder C:\Program Files\Altiris\Altiris Agent\Logs

I had a similar problem, but it was too long path (too many subdirectories)

the error in the log is something like this: Error while downloading package: No package sources returned by server (-2147023728)]]></event>

If you're able to upload but not download, this usually points to a file path being too long during the download.  The above steps (CS5 example) are what I would take as a first try to shorten the file path.

I'm using the software library. Somehow I can't find the Logs folder on the client, do I need to enable logging somewhere? I'll try to change the resource path.

and you need to change it on the policy in advanced => the location  to C:\sw\cs5

I changed the path on the site server(d:\sql) and for the client(c:\sql) as well but i still have the same problem. I can't find the logs on the client...

C:\Programmer\Altiris\Altiris Agent\Logs or client in the folder C:\Program Files\Altiris\Altiris Agent\Logs

you can try the RAADv2.exe, it has a log viewer

if it is a server, the Server logs can be seen with  "Altiris Log Viewer", but I do not believe this to be the case.

pach to log viewer

start  => all programs => symantec => diagnostics => Altiris Log Viewer

and remember to check the logs on the client, they are in the folder

C:\Program Files\Altiris\Altiris Agent\Software Delivery\{package guid}\log.xml

or

C:\Program Files\Altiris\Altiris Agent\Agents\SoftwareManagement\Software Delivery{package guid}\log.xml

if you hav change the download, the place you've changed it to

looking at the package log i get a 404 error:

This does seem to point to IIS.  Have you checked the IIS logs?
