    Hi Guys

This is a bit of a shout out to see if anyone else is having issues with SEP12.1 RU2 and Lotus Notes 8.5

    Background:

We had an issue with Lotus Notes Stationary documents when using SEP 12.1 RU1 MP1. Stationary documents with attachments randomly deleted and appeared in the drafts folder. This was fixed with RU2

    Issue

Since installing RU2 we have a percentage of machines (approximately 40%) that have issues. Basically after upgrading to RU2, Lotus Notes failes to work. After entering in the users password, the splash screen says 'loading' and eventually disappears. The notes processes are running in task manager, and no errors are reporting in the Event Log or SEP logs.

After doing some extensive troubleshooting with Symantec Support, we have found that it appears the be the Notes Scanner component of SEP that is causing the issue. Specifically the line ExtMgr_Addins=NLNVP.DLL in the notes.ini file. Once you either a) remove the notes scanner or b) remove the line from the .ini file, Lotus Notes works correctly. The problem with doing a) is that you still have to remove the line from the .ini file as it doesn't appear to remove itself when removing the component. The issue with b) is that after a restart the line is reinserted.

I am still working with support on this issue, but am very keen to see if any one else in the community has experienced this issue

    Thanks

    Ben

Have not seen this issue in our environment. But we run SAV for Domino so we have no need for the Note email plugin. We have all 3 components enabled, including Insight. So a little bit of a different setup than you.

But your best bet is to continue working with support. Please keep this thread updated if you get a solution.

I also have the same problem as you. I'm using SEP 11 RU7 MP3 and the problem with Lotus Notes appeared since RU7 MP2.

I've received the email from Symantec-Support this morning, they said I should to upgrade my SEPM to 12.1 RU2.

By the way, I still working on this case with Symantec's Support team and if there are any updates I will tell you.

    Thanks

    Hi Pete

Yeah, support ticket has been opened. When you suggest disabling the component, do you mean via policy?

    Hi All

I have been advised by Symantec Support that this will be resolved in RU3. No time frame on when this will happen.

Last I saw it was due some time this month

That'd be great. The support tech I was working with gave me a timeframe of 3 to 4 months

Questions is - will RU3 cause some other weird issue with notes lol. RU1 MP1 and RU2 have!

Scratch that. RU2 MP1 is due out this month, not RU3. Sorry for the confusion.

Thanks for pointing me here Brian81...

Add 1 more to the list of affected companies.. Here too. I have a new thread posted, but did not open a case yet.  Server Win 2008, clients are all Win7 64 bit.

What I've seen and done so far: (all to no resolve)

Rebuild Notes.ini (only works until you reboot, the the issue occurs again)
Remove the NLNVP.DLL statement from the Notes.ini, (again, works until you reboot)
Dropped just the .DLL portion of the statement in the Notes.ini, per another article I found. (no change)
Remove the actual NLNVP.DLL file from the Notes directory. Incredibly, or maybe not incredibly it still adds the statement therefore it fails to launch after rebooting, so again, rebooting kills this somehow.

    Thanks
