  • 1.  Image a .v2i file mounted as a drive letter?

Can Symantec Ghost create an image from a v2i file mounted as a drive letter, please?  (If so, can the trial version do so for a 25GB image?)

I ask because I'm a lifetime Norton Ghost user with a trickly problem.  My boot drive died, and while waiting for RMA replacement, it's backup drive's filesystem somehow got corrupted.

Over here I was advised to mount my v2i file and fix it with CHKDSK, then use something (the poster couldn't recall if it was Symantec Ghost or Microsoft ImageX; Norton Ghost cannot) to image the mounted drive.

Googling about ImageX, even if it can do what I need it doesn't look easy to use particularly with my WinXP Pro sp3.

I googled on "mount v2i image" and there are plenty of hits to look at, eg:

It looks like your poster reference may be to Symantec's Backup Exec System Recovery tool.  Please note that this forum is not for Norton Ghost support, but for Ghost Solution Suite, which is based on different technology. You will find a sticky posting at the top of this forum which has a link to the Norton Support Community, and they may be able to give you more salient advice.

I don't believe ImageX is an option as this is a tool intended to work with wim files, part of Microsoft's imaging solution. Perhaps you are thinking of VMware which is also able to mount a variety of image formats.
