  • 1.  How to uninstall NTP

    Posted Apr 15, 2009 05:24 AM
Hi we have nearly 100 servers in our environment. And we are using SEP11 Mr4.
We are installed clients on the servers with network threat protection option. Our servers are getting slow now.
I logged a call with Symantec they said that don’t install network threat protection in servers. Now I disabled network threat protection option from server but the clients are showing red mark on the taskbar.

My question is "how can i uninstall network threat protection feature from the clients?"

You can also automate that by creating a new package from the manager in the following way and pushing it across to the clients. Don't include the NTP in the new package.

    1) Admin > Install Packages > Settings

    2) Create a new setting which has the option of "Remove all previous logs, policies and reset the client server communication"

    3) Use this setting while exporting the package.

    4) Push with clientremote.exe or migration and deployment wizard

    4) This will uninstall the existing clients, Reinstall them with the new configuration set.

    Sandep,

If we already have latest version, whether this will work??

As soon as the package goes to clients, it will first check the version and then the components.

If its latet version then i think it will ignore the client.

    Any suggestion??

    HI Satish,

Just export the AV and AS package and deploy to your server,

    This will remove your NTP.

And keep in mind that you have to select option of "Remove all previous logs, policies and reset the client server communicationoption of "Remove all previous logs, policies and reset the client server communication in package settings.

I agree with Mansoor, just create a new install package, with av and as only.

    Admin->Install Packages->Create a desired Client Install Feature set ->
Client install package ->Upgrade groups with package
select Product Version ->Select the groups ->Upgrade Settings ->Uncheck "Main existing client features while updating" and select the feature set that you have created.
    Finish.
