  • 1.  How to exclude files from being scanned

    Posted Mar 13, 2013 11:33 AM

Currently, we are working on a project that we need to avoid significant slowness to the project by having Symmantec Anti-Virus not scan items going to the following server, 3 paths, and its subfolders:

    server: DHITSEECAPPIP32

    paths (please include subfolders):   D:\IAS

    C:\Program Files (x86)\InputAccel\Client C:\Program Files (x86)\InputAccel\Server\Server\binnt

How do i exclude certain folders from the scan?

You can create a separate group and add this machine to it. Than break inheritance.

Than you create a new exception policy, add the files/folders you need excluded and apply it to this group only.

    Are you on 12.1?

Is the D; path a network location? If it is and if you have the network scanning enabled - you can disabled the option to allow SEP only scan local ressources (http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH95508), or as mentioned above create an exception for it.

Go with above links and if it require only on one server then better option is allign it from client system.

Create a new group let say "ABC"

move the server  into the ABC group.

and as per above kb article apply the centralize exception policy.

You can create a new OU in AD. that will again reflect here. You wont be able to move clients between OUs that has to be done via AD only.

However you can still create  a new group inside the sepm. you can move clients which are not imported from OU.
