  • 1.  How do I Unschedule an Automation Policy Task?

    Through the Symantec Mamangement Console I've managed to schedule an Automation Policy Task  "Send Automation policy e-mail"   I've scheduled it to send every day at 9:00 a.m.  I don't want to be emailed every day and would like to turn off the schedule.  How does one do this magic?

    You can turn the policy off if thats what you want?
    to do so , select the policy and click TURN OFF up the top of the left hand side just above all of the policies.

    you can change to schedule to a shared schedule or something and set it weekly or monthly if the frequency of your policy is too high. just not sure what you are refering to. any questions please ask :)

    Depending on how you configured the automation policy, you may have to check in one of these places:

    1) Manage -> Automation policies
    - If you don't remember the name of the policy, you can click on each one in the list and look at the schedule time.
    - If you find the policy that runs at 9am, you can disable it here

    2) Manage -> Jobs & Tasks
    - Under Jobs & Tasks -> System Jobs and Tasks -> Notification Server -> Automation Policy Tasks ->  Send Automation Policy e-mail
    - In the "Task Status" window, you may see a number of entries called Run Send automation policy email on Schedule (or something similar to that)
    - Right-click on an entry and select Details
    - Look at the "Scheduled" time. If the time looks right, click Cancel to go back to the Task Status screen
    - You can right-click and Delete the offending entry.

    3) If neither of the above areas look promising, you can look in the NS LogViewer around 9am to see the name of the task that executes. You can use the global-search box in the upper right hand corner to find & disable the task.

    Please let me know if you have any questions.

    Thanks for the help.  I've looked for the TURN OFF option but it doesn't show up anywhere on the Symantec Management Console.

    I've been able to find the offensive entry and can Right Click Delete it but it comes back the next day.  How do i get to the NS LogViewer?

    Thanks,

    Hi Rhino,

    You can access the the logviewer by:

    1) Logging into the SMP Server
    2) Navigating to Start -> Programs -> Altiris -> Diagnostics -> Altiris LogViewer

    Thanks Rion,  I was able to identify the offending policy finally and found it was scheduled daily so I just unchecked the scheduling.
