SAVFL clients are designed to work as standalone machines. There's an optional component where some limited information passes from the Linux box to the Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager- that's the SAVFL Reporter that Pete mentioned. It puts the output from certain SAVFL logs into SEPM reports. That's the tool I'd recommend for you.
One hurdle to jump, though: SAVFL Reporter was introduced with SAVFL MR 10, a later version than you have. I recommend upgrading a few test machines and installing SAVFL Reporter. Try it out. Confirm that it is doing what you need, then upgrade and install the rest.
