How can I prevent LiveUpdate from running in the middle of my work day ?

Working along, all of a sudden computer slows to a crawl for a few minutes.

Eventviewer shows LiveUpdate just loaded another virus definition.

I'm on a corporate domain so I cannot control the server.

How can I delay this update activity to off hours or disable it entirely while I am working ?

Have you checked with your admin? This needs to be set from the SEPM unless you have been given control of the settings.

Open the client and go to Change Settings >> Client Management >> Options >> LiveUpdate tab

Can you make any setting changes here?

I only have General, Tamper Protection, and Scheduled Updates for tabs and all appear to be disabled.

It will let me uncheck "Protect Symantec security software from being tampered with or shut down"

I have asked our IT guys to fix this before. I don't think they understand what they need to change and where.

If you can give me specific instructions I can attempt to contact them again.

I was really hoping for something I can do on my end.

In SEP side you can not change setting,You will contact your SEPM admin

To configure the schedule for LiveUpdate downloads to Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager

    1. In the console, click Admin.

    2. On the Admin page, click System.

    3. On the Admin page, under Tasks, click Edit the server properties.

    4. In the Server Properties dialog box, on the LiveUpdate tab, click Edit Schedule.

    5. Change the frequency and any other settings that you want to change.

    6. Click OK

    Frequency

    Select download start time window

How frequently the management server downloads new content. Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager gets content updates from LiveUpdate every four hours.

If you select a Daily or Weekly download, you can select an interval for when the download starts

Since you do not have access to the SEPM, there is nothing you can do from that end.

Your admin needs to go into the LiveUpdate policy and either change the schedule or allow you to modify the schedule.
