  • 1.  How to bulk add groups

    Posted Jul 15, 2013 10:29 AM

    Hi All,

To save time, I need to bulk add several hundred groups (with a standard shared policy) so that when the time comes to process an individual group I can just open it up and devote my time to *customizing* the policy.

    Any ideas or suggestions?

    Thanks in advance,

    Mark

    Hello,

Do you want to add the same groups as in your AD?

Synchronizing SEPM with your AD would assist you creating all the required groups.

However, creating multiple groups / sub-groups at a single time is not possible other than sync with AD.

    Check this Article:

There is no way offered via the SEPM.

This would need to be done with an insert to the database.

What I would suggest is calling and working with support on this.

You can review the schema if you're familar with doing a DB insert

Do you use Embedded or SQL DB?

    Are you using AD sync?

    Hello,

It can be done if using Active Directory synchronization or else it's quite impossible to implement.

    Thanks, All,

I cannot integrate AD for my solution.  :(

We are using a SQL database and I am comfortable with executing SQL queries, but I will certainly have to consult with support to get the approved format (there are no foreign keys in the schema and this makes it tricky to *correctly* reverse engineer stuff, and really easy to muck things up  :-)

    Thanks again, everyone!
