    hope the registry modification is this one

    1.Open regedit;
    2.Change HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Symantec\Symantec Endpoint Protection\SMC\smc_exit_test from 1 to 0 ( Value of smc_exit_test =0)

    3) then try restarting the smc service, you should be able to do it.

    If the registry is still not working, move the client to the group which does not have smc password. Once the client gets new group policy, you can stop smc service without the password.

    Hello,

    You could contact Kevin Mikalsen on https://www-secure.symantec.com/connect/user/kevin-mikalsen

    I agree with Pete Above.

    You can either move the client from 1 group to another group which carries no such policies.

    OR

    Change the polices from the same group.

    If incase, you do not want to do either of the above, then check this Thread:

    https://www-secure.symantec.com/connect/forums/uninstall-sep-client-1106005-without-having-password

    Hope that helps!!

    If you need to uninstall it and do not have the password, you can use the tool CleanWipe.

    Greetings.
