for End point protection this two modes are for how your Server will communicate with client.

we have more than 9000 Clients world wide and 2 SEP11 Servers to control them

we don't never face this issue regarding Hard Disk space.

Amrish it should be the other way, how cleints will communicate with the Manager, the connect request is always initiated by client..
I know about push and pull mode ;)
The reason why i posted was , I had a look at the DBSize validation tool in the downloads section.

If I change the heartbeat from 5 mins to 15, i see the Size getting reduced from 50GB to 37GB for thousand clients... I'm want to know the reason for it.

    :)

    Rafeeg ..hope this helps you

The size of the heart beat is about 2-3 KB/s
If the heart beat is 5 min ,The heart beat happens 12 times an hour
    So for 1000 clients in 24 hrs it should be = 1000*24*12*3 = 864000 = 844 mb
And if the heartbeat is for 15 mins , it will happen 4 times an hours
So for 1000 clients in 24 hrs it should be = 1000*24*4*3 = 281 mb

This is ONLY for heartbeat .

Hope this help you to come to a conclusion

got to know about it now.

heart beat wil fil in logs and scan details and various things like that

but that request ( heartbeat itself) will add space to the DB??

if so then for 1000 clients. by disk should be fil by few months..

    1000*24*4*3 *30 days??

i believe HB logs(old one) are not entred in DB. They might be overwritten by new one ( last checked in time). If thats the case..many customer using the SEP for sometime would have complained on that.

I'm confused here, ( I unmarked the solution , nOt sure who marked it as solution though)

If you have gone the dbsize sheet, it has all the logs info.. 1000 logs for some time and then get it purged, virus defs and various other info..almost everything to say

What else we are getting from HB ???

If HB increases / decrease the size of the DB ( yes from the Sheet)

Which Table in the db are they stored, they cant be anything other than virusdefs, scan , traffic, txt files to say..
System Admin Events 10000 60 Days
System Client Server Activity Events 10000 60 Days
    System Enforcer 10000 60 Days
    Audit Log 10000 60 Days
System Server Activity 10000 60 Days

    Client Activity 10000 60 Days
    Security Log 10000 60 Days
    Traffic Log 50000 60 Days
    Packet Log 10000 60 Days
    Control Log 20000 60 Days

    Enforcer Client 10000 60 Days
    Enforcer Server 10000 60 Days
    Enforcer Traffic 10000 60 Days

Calculated DB with all these things.. what else other than these is getting stored?

    hi,
you may check the client activity logs. Last check in time is information of the HB itself ( my understanding).

    Hi pete,

the new logs would come in and old logs would purge out , however the overall DB size should be same..

when i tell them to connect after 15mins, they gonna send the same log right?

    why the HDD increase then...?
