    Hello to all,

I am having issues with Ghost boot wizard. I installed Ghost Solution Suite 2.5.1. When I launch GBW, The process started but the Gui will not load. When I go to process explorer and try to terminate the process it does not terminate. All the other programs of GSS 2.5.1, launch without any issues. Live update states my products are up to date

I have uninstalled rebooted and reinstalled

    Also ran Symantec remover tool

I am running Windows 7 Professional w/latest updates

    HP EliteBook 8440p

    Thank You,

    Flores

Have you tried on a different system?

Does the system have an EFI bios?  If so, you will not be able to use Ghost:  http://www.symantec.com/business/support/index?page=content&id=TECH156927

Sorry for the delayed response. Thanks for the link, But it problem is not the cloning process. It’s launching the GBW to create the Boot Disk/USB. GBW  runs on other systems.

It looks like there is a specific issue with this system, which is stopping GBW launching properly. Short of rebuilding this system, the other thing you could try, is using a utility such as Procmon to monitor the launch of GBW on a working system, and compare with the system where it hangs. My guess is that there is a file version mismatch or something amiss in the registry.

You could also try an uninstall, followed by a registry wipe of the obvious keys, and a logged reinstall. The log should report whether there are any files that are not installed due to a version conflict.

The rebuild wasgoing to be Plan B. sad I will look into Procmon. I will let you know what I find.

    Hello Everyone,

I have attached the ProcMon files. The files are the same until line 275. I don't see any "errors" in the logfile Broken file. The working.xls is from a system that GBW works on. Its the same model and O/S.' I know its a problem with the O/S. I just dont know were the problem is.

    Thanks,

    Attachment(s)

    xls
    Logfile Broken.xls   116 KB 1 version
    xls
    Logfile Working.xls   202 KB 1 version

The logs on the broken system appear to be showing loading of key windows files which I don't see on the working log. I cannot give you any real pointers as to what is specifically causing the issue, so a rebuild would most likely prove quicker than trying to diagnose the underlying problem.

    Hi,

Which version of GSS are you using? If it is plain 2266 build then you need to get the patched binaries of 2269 from Symantec tech support which has addressed this issue. We have observed this issue with the 2266 binary of GBW.

    • If you dont have 2269 patched binaries then you have workaround to this issue - put the blank CD in CD drive and try to launch the GBW.

      Please let me know.
